My story

I am a classically trained opera singer who has worked with many companies within Australia, such as Opera Australia, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, The Queensland Choir, The Brisbane Festival, Brisbane Baroque Festival, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, Co-Opera, The Australian Festival of Chamber Music and the Canberra International Festival of Music.

Although my talents lie primarily in classical singing, I have a great passion for other types of music. I believe classical techniques can give a really good grounding for healthy singing in any genre and help strengthen your voice and skills.

Growing up, my mother and sister sang a lot of rock/pop music. I was quite shy, and apart from the occasional solo, for many years, I enjoyed singing in choirs. This started with school choirs in my small country town (Milton, NSW), leading to participation in more advanced school singing groups, including an acapella group in early high school. When I went to boarding school at Canberra Girls Grammar School in Year 11, I joined the advanced Motet Choir, which toured to competitions in New Zealand and throughout Australia—also performing in the Canberra International Music Festival.

After high school, I was accepted into the Australian National University School of Music, where I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Singing (Performance). I then completed a Master of Music (Opera Performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where I won an award for academic excellence and the Wagner Society in Queensland Encouragement Award. During both degrees, I performed and worked as a choral scholar at the Uniting Church. I then became a scholar with the Melba Opera Trust and completed summer programs with the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School and the Georg Solti Academia di Bel Canto.

In 2020, I was thrilled to begin working with Opera Australia. As a soloist, I have performed the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Anna in Maria Stuarda, 1st Page in Lohengrin, and covered the role of Sieglinde in Die Walküre. I also worked as a member of the Chorus for their productions of La traviata, Ernani, Tosca, La bohème, Turandot, Le nozze di Figaro, Otello, La Juve, Lohengrin, Mefistofele, Madama Butterfly, Il Trovatore, Attila, Aïda, Götterdämmerung, Idomeneo and Suor Angelica.

I have been honoured to be the winner of some of the most prestigious opera competitions in Australia, including the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and The Opera Foundation for young Australians Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship.
