Bronwyn made her solo debut for Opera Australia performing the role of Anna Kennedy in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda in Concert (2022), also performing as one of the Pages in Lohengrin (2022) and covering the role of Sieglinde in Die Walküre (2023). Having previously worked as a mezzo-soprano, roles for other companies have included: Rosina in The barber of Seville and Olga in Eugene Onegin for Co-Opera, Flora in La traviata for Opera New England, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly for Opera Projects Sydney, 2nd Witch in Dido and Aeneas for Brisbane Baroque Festival and Miss Baggott in The Little Sweep for The Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
Bronwyn is a dedicated concert artist and is thrilled to be working with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs again this year in their Ode to Joy concert at the Sydney Opera House, featuring Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D minor and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Previous concert highlights include Chorus Oz: Ode to Joy (Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Mozart’s Mass in C) with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs (broadcast on ABC), Handel’s Messiah with Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Philharmonia Choirs, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Tudor Portraits with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Opera Under the Stars with Teddy Tahu Rhodes, and Opera Galas with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, The Queensland Choir and The Brisbane Festival.
Bronwyn is the proud winner of some of Australia’s most prestigious awards and scholarships, including The Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and The Opera Foundation for young Australians Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship (2017). She was also a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship (2018 and 2019), The Opera Foundation for young Australians Deutsche Oper Berlin Award (2018) and placed second in The More than Opera: German-Australian Opera Grant (2019). More recently she was a semi-finalist in the Elizabeth Connell Prize (2023) for emerging dramatic sopranos and the recipient of an encouragement award in the 2023 Premier Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition (Virtual).
Bronwyn holds a Bachelor of Music from the Australian National University School of Music and a Masters of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. She is also an alumna of the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School (2013-2015), the Melba Opera Trust (2016-2017), and the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto (2018).
